Understanding the Walmart Taylor Farms Food Recall
Taylor Farms is one of North America’s largest producers of fresh-cut vegetables and salad products. Its products are sold under its own brand and also under private labels for major grocery chains, including Walmart’s Marketside brand.
The company announced a voluntary recall after concerns that certain iceberg lettuce products distributed to Walmart stores could potentially be linked to Cyclospora contamination.
Food recalls do not always mean contamination has been confirmed. In many situations, manufacturers choose to remove products from store shelves out of an abundance of caution while investigators determine whether consumers are actually at risk.
This precautionary approach helps reduce the possibility of additional illnesses while scientific testing continues.
